Recently, the [California State University, Long Beach campus] has heard reports of a coyote or coyotes on campus grounds. The animal(s) were spotted in the vicinity of Bouton Creek adjacent to Brotman Hall, the College of Business Administration and the Horn Center. Since these reports, University Police and Facilities Management have been on heightened alert. In addition, Facilities Management began working with the California Department of Fish and Game to determine the most appropriate means of dealing with this situation.
Although there have been no reports or sightings in several days, these animals are elusive and it is difficult to predict their behavior. Coyotes are naturally afraid of humans but the presence of easily accessible food and water can change their behavior. We ask that you exercise caution …
